Application Translation

The Application Translation module (also called Localization) allows you to make your platform multilingual. It centralizes all the labels used by the system, forms and workflows to enable consistent translation into all supported languages.


1. Translation Interface

The tool opens as a dynamic cross-table displaying translation keys in rows and languages in columns.

Table organization:

  • Tree structure (TreeList): On the left, elements are classified by theme (Forms, Workflows, Views, etc.). You can expand each branch to access sub-elements (e.g.: fields in a form).
  • Default language: The first text column displays the label in the project's reference language (usually French).
  • Language columns: Each language activated on the platform (English, German, Spanish, etc.) has its own column for entering translations.

When a label is modified but not yet saved, it displays in red in the table.


2. Categories of translatable elements

The application groups resources by type to facilitate localization:

  • Forms: Translation of the form title and all its fields (Labels, help tooltips).
  • Workflows: Step names, action names (buttons) and notification messages.
  • Value lists: Labels for options offered in dropdown menus or checkboxes.
  • Views & Browsers: Data table titles and folder labels in the side menu.
  • Portals: Translation of widget titles and dashboard configuration options.
  • Web Resources: Static interface elements (.resx files) such as system messages or generic button text.

3. Ribbon actions

The top ribbon provides the tools needed to manage translations in bulk.

  • Save: Saves changes to the database.
  • Default language: Allows you to change the project's reference language or copy values from one language to the default language.
  • Export: Generates an Excel (.xlsx) file containing all or part of the tree structure. This is the ideal tool for sending texts to an external translation agency.
  • Import: Reintegrates a translated Excel file. The system performs automatic matching by "keys" to update the corresponding language columns.

4. Tips for good translation

  1. Use search: The search bar at the top of the screen allows you to instantly find a label wherever it is used.
  2. Watch for variables: Some labels may contain markers (e.g.: {0}) that will be replaced dynamically by the system. You must preserve them in your translations.
  3. Inheritance: For common fields (e.g.: Company, Date), check if they are not already translated in the "Search Parameters" section or in other forms to maintain terminological consistency.
